Rodale Institute CEO to address climate issues

Tim LaSalle, chief executive officer a the Pennsylvania-based Rodale Institute, will present "Organic Agriculture: Solutions for the GLobal Climate Crisis" at 4 p.m. Nov. 23 in Room 179 of the Scheman Building at Iowa State University.

LaSalle will discuss ways that cover crops, composting and other organic practices could reduce our carbon footprint and global warming. His presentation will include findings from Rodale's 28-year Farming Systems Trial, the oldest scientific side-by-side scientific study of organic and conventional practices in the country.

Following the presentation, the Iowa Organic Association's annual meeting will be held. A reception with organic food and beverages will begin at 6:15 p.m. to kick off the eighth annual organic conference that starts at 8 a.m. Nov. 24.
