Joseph Ward

Joseph W. Ward, Ph.D. – Iowa, USA, was born in La
Porte, Indiana and raised on a livestock farm. Active
in 4‐H and FFA, he attended Purdue University
earning a BS in Animal Science and MS in Ruminant
Nutrition. He also earned a Ph.D. from Oklahoma
State University in Ruminant Nutrition. As an animal
nutritionist, Dr. Ward has consulted, published and
lectured in Europe, the Far East, Australia and South
Africa. He has served on several executive boards of
directors, as an advisor to the State of Iowa’s Organic Certification Program and Past President
to the Iowa Organic Association. He has been active in organic animal production,
manufacturing, and processing since the early 90’s. In 2001, he converted an Iowa feed
manufacturing plant into a certified organic production facility.
Dr. Ward has been very active in research activities that promote holistic animal health and
improved production practices emphasizing certified organic ingredients. In 2014, he
conducted over 200 organic crops, livestock and processor inspections.
