Celebrate the harvest season with the Iowa Organic Association in Iowa City, Iowa. On Sunday, November 19th, IOA will host its annual meeting at the Clinton Street Social Club from 5:00-8:00 PM (18 1/2 S Clinton St, Iowa City, IA 52240, (319) 351-1690). This event is free and open to the public. Heavy appetizers will be provided with a cash bar. Jim Riddle, organic pioneer and Chair of the Organic Farmers Association will speak at 6:00.
The Iowa Organic Association is honored to introduce Jim Riddle as a guest speaker for this event. Jim Riddle will discuss the new national voice for organic farmers, Organic Farmers Association, introducing their policy platform and how Iowa farmers can plug into this important work. For more than 30 years, Jim has been an organic farmer, gardener, inspector, educator, policy analyst, and author. He was the founding chair of the International Organic Inspectors Association. He is the chair of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Organic Advisory Task Force. He also operates Blue Fruit Farm, a diversified organic operation where he and his wife grow blueberries, black currants, elderberries, aronia berries and more. He is the former chair of the USDA National Organic Standards Board and a leading voice for organic agriculture.
