Please join the Iowa Farmers Union and Local Food Healthy Kids for a discussion among farmers, local food system partners and early child educators for a Farm to Early Care and Education on November 13th, 2019 to learn more about the following topics:
1. How the current food system works for you and your operation
2. How the local food system can benefit from early childhood markets, and how early childhood centers can benefit from the local food system.
3. Discussing the current barriers for farmers and local food systems to reach education markets including the early childhood education system.
4. Connect with other farmers, local food system members, and early childhood care providers and leaders regarding markets for locally produced food.

This will be the first in a series of stakeholder meetings that will convene to develop policy priorities for a Farm to Early Care and Education program in Iowa that fits in a broader Iowa local food system. The Iowa Farmers Union is proud to be working with the Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative and the Iowa Association for Education of Young Children on this project funded by the Kellogg Foundation.
The November 13th meeting will be held at the Thoreau Center, located at 3500 Kingman Blvd, Des Moines, IA 50311 from 10 AM to 12:00 PM, with lunch provided. A meeting agenda will be sent closer to the meeting.
You will be given a $50 stipend for your attendance, along with reimbursement for the travel cost of your trip.
