Webinar: NRCS CSP Works for Organic Producers – Tues, Oct 4 @ 12 p.m.

The Iowa Organic Association has invited Rubyana Neely, Iowa NRCS CSP Program Manager, to lead a webinar on Tuesday, October 4 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. to discuss how the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) can be beneficial to organic producers. Sign up deadline for FY2023 is October 7, 2022.

No one knows more about your land than you do, and no one knows more about conservation than NRCS does. Learn how you can develop a CSP plan tailored to your land and your goals to help you increase productivity and protect the value of your land.

CSP provides many benefits including increased crop yields, decreased inputs, wildlife habitat improvements, and increased resilience to weather extremes. CSP is intended for working lands including cropland, pastureland, nonindustrial private forest land and agricultural land under the jurisdiction of a tribe.  Current Iowa CSP contract practices include:

  • 314-Brush Management
  • 315-Herbaceous Weed Treatment
  • 327-Conservation Cover
  • 338-Prescribe Burning
  • 340-Cover Crop
  • 386-Field Border
  • 511-Forage Harvest Management
  • 512-Pasture and Hay Planting
  • 528-Prescribed Burning
  • 558-Roof Runoff Structure
  • 590-Nutrient Management
  • 612-Tree and Shrub Establishment

To apply for NRCS conservation programs, contact your local NRCS office. For more information about conservation planning and programs to help treat natural resource issues on your land, visit www.ia.nrcs.usda.gov.
